This two day program of Huchuy Qosqo to Machu Picchu is available for people who want to do some hiking but no camping. A great trek in solitude with hardly any tourists in sight. Have an opportunity to enjoy the wilderness. Drive from Cusco to Chinchero and then to Tauca to begin your one day trek. Visit the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo and take in breathtaking panoramic views. Then spend the night in Aguas Calientes in comfort. The second day, take pleasure in a full day visiting the mystical awe- inspiring Machu Picchu to be awed by the grandeur of this site.
HUCHUY QOSQO – MACHUPICCHU 2 DAYS
PROGRAM
Day 1: Cusco – Tauca – Huchuy Qosqo – Lamay – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
Early morning pick up from your hotel and drive to the Chinchero area and to the village of Tauca (3,867mt/12,684ft), the trailhead. We begin our uphill hike taking in fabulous views of the mountain landscape with llamas and alpacas until we reach Huallatakasa Pass (4,428mt/14,524ft) Then we descend for about 2hrs or more to reach the Inca archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo known as Little Cusco (3,600mt/11,800ft) to be marveled by rock houses, fine stonework, terraces built by the Inca Empire. After lunch, we`ll continue our descent to Lamay (2900mt/9,514ft), where our transport will be waiting to take us to Ollantaytambo (2792mt/9,160ft). From here we will board our train to Machupicchu town (2,050mt/6,725ft) to spend the night in a comfortable hostel.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After an early morning breakfast, a bus takes us up to superb Sanctuary of Machu Pichu to enjoy a professional guided walking tour of the “Lost City of the Incas”. Historians have yet to explain how or why this massive citadel was built on such precarious heights above the Urubamba River Valley. We’ll visit such famous sites as “The Cemetery”, “Temple of the Seven Windows”, the “Intihuatana”, “Temple of the Condor” and “Temple of the Sun”. It’s also possible to climb Huayna Picchu (“young peak”, 2,700mt-8,856ft), the jutting peak overlooking the ruins. Optional: (extra cost) After a glorious, eye and mind opening visit with your guide walk to the entrance of Huayna Picchu to climb a narrow path for about an 1.5 hours to catch terrific vistas of the Machu Picchu ruins and the valley below. Then take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and eat lunch (on your own) before boarding the Expedition train to Poroy. You will be met at the train station by our staff and private transfer to your hotel in Cusco.

WHAT TO BRING
The area where we are going to do our adventure half day tour is in Cusco and its surroundings. Despite of the time of the year, there are always seasonal variations: it can be sunny and still cold or rainy but dry and kind of mild. Visitors must be ready and equipped to enjoy their tour under safe conditions. The following packing list gathers items that you will need for this tour.
- A backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the program
- Rain gear (jacket and pants if available) or rain poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco)
- Waterproof trekking boots recommended
- Warm clothes, including jacket, fleeces. Thermal clothing is also recommended
- Camera and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions)
- Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain and cold
- Sun block
- After-sun cream or hydrating cream for face and body
- Insect repellent – minimum recommended 20% DEET – no malaria risk has been reported
- Toilet paper and tissues
- Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate,dried fruits, muesli, etc. Please note that we do provide a daily morning snack and our meal service is very complete and well supplied. This recommendation applies for all clients being used to a specific snack, as it may happen that it is not included in our selection
- Water container and water for the first morning. Important notice: plastic water bottles are no longer allowed into the Inca Trail. Plastic water containers (ie. Nalgene) or metal ones are recommended
- Optionally: water- sterilizing tablets in case you pick up water from streams or rivers along the route. Otherwise, we provide filtered boiled water, which is safe to drink and has not reported any health problem so far
