The area of Ollantaytambo  offers outstanding places  to explore, where the adventure can see a  variety of impresive Inca remains, history and  nature . This day hike is for people that would like to admire  the enigmatic site of  Puma marca, a hillside fortress that once guarded the entrance to the fertile Sacred Valley. Built on a steep slope overlooking the convergence of the Patacancha and Yuracmayo rivers,  built in the upper area of Ollantaytambo , walking down on part of the Inca trail that goes to Ollantaytamno, observe the remains of farming terraces  and explore the impressive Inca site of Ollantaytambo, this full day tour is the perfect activity that the  adventures would like to do for learning and explore these  places.

TOUR FULL DAY PUMAMARCA-OLLANTAYTAMBO

At 08:00 am. We are going to pick you up from your hotel in Cusco (3,339 mt.) and drive for about  1.40 hrs. to Ollantayatmabo village (2,792mt/9,160ft) in our way we are going to pass through some local communities of farmers and see the Urubamba river, upon our arrival to Ollantaytambo we have some time to stretch our legs, then we continue for some 35 minutes more and reach the Parquin lot near to  Pumamarca (3,650mt/11,975ft)  after a short hike of 10 minutes we arrive to the impressive Inca site, once we are going to learn about this site from your expert guide, will have time to explore it, afterwards we start our hike down to the valley that is almost 3 km, in our way we are going to have great vistas of the area and learning the different plants and herbs that still the local people use to threat some illnesses, we are going to be walking in the upper part of a terraces system that was built during the Inca period, at the end of our hike we arrive to the community of  Pallata, where our transport wait for driving us to Ollantaytambo to have our lunch, them we explore this beautiful village, walk for some of  its original Inca streets and visit an original Inca house that before some important people used to live, at the end of our day we visit Ollantaytambo, we visit the most important areas of this complex as the temple of the windows, the temple of the Sun, the ancient temple and have great views of the hole site and the town.

Finally, we drive back to Cusco and transfer to your hotel.

WHAT TO BRING

The area where we are going to do our adventure half day tour is in Cusco and its surroundings. Despite of the time of the year, there are always seasonal variations: it can be sunny and still cold or rainy but dry and kind of mild. Tourists must be ready and equipped to enjoy their tour under safe conditions. The following packing list gathers items that you will need for this tour.

Clothing

  • Wear clothes in layers: It is hard to guess what the weather will be like, that’s why layering is really helpful. Make sure you are using wickable clothes, cotton ones keep much moisture on them.
  • Use short or long-sleeved t-shirts for your first layer.
  • Pack lightweight jackets of fleece or microfleece for the second layer.
  • Wear a waterproof jacket for the third layer.
  • Carry gloves to protect your hands from the cold.
  • Wear hiking boots or trekking shoes.
  • Use thick socks
  • Pack a hat in case is going to be sunny day.
